SUPERSTAR Rihanna will bring her spectacular risque live show to Australia in February. Critics warn that the show has strong themes of sex and violence, including semi-nudity and war imagery. Promoter Michael Coppel said the tour, which sold out in Europe and the US, pushes the envelope. "Rihanna is an artist who plays close to the boundaries," he said. "This is a phenomenal, edgy rock show. "But it is a PG show. It is not X-rated or R-rated." The show includes sexy costumes, dirty dancing, massive props, booming pyro and sci-fi screens. At one point, Rihanna provocatively straddles the giant barrel of a real-size pink tank. Rihanna, 22, (pictured) says she wanted to create an event. "The production is unbelievable and the costumes . . . we just took it to a whole new level," she said. "Visually and sonically . . . it's a big step up." Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, her hits include Umbrella, Rude Boy, Rockstar 101 and Don't Stop The Music. She made headlines last year after being assaulted by her former boyfriend, singer Chris Brown. In Britain, critics say the show, Last Girl On Earth, has the former pop star exploring her dark side. Rihanna performs at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 25. Tickets go on sale on August 20. SOURCE: Courier Mail |
