FIRST LOOK // FRANKMUSIK feat. FAR EAST MOVEMENT - DO IT IN THE AM

It's no secret that here on Flop of the Pops Music Blog Frankmusik and his bootylicious self are bound to get plenty of love - just look at that banner.

Frankmusik - real name Vincent James Turner - has been going from strength to strength since the release of his debut EP in 2007 lead to him getting signed. A successful album, plenty of touring, plenty of production and remixing for other artists (Lady Gaga, Pet Shop Boys, CSS, Natalia Kills, etc) later, and he is back with some hot new music.

Having begun to record for the project back in September 2009, Frank moved out to LA in November of that year, wanting to "sever any semblance of a safety net" and "just move on" (his words). In 2010 he was signed by label founder Martin Kierszenbaum to Cherrytree Records, an imprint of Interscope Records, home to a top-noth roster of artists - Far East Movement, Natalia Kills, Robyn, Keane, La Roux, Ellie Goulding, Die Anterwood, LMFAO, amongst others. A buzz single called "No Fear Inside" was put out a while ago but now we have the real deal.

"Do It In The AM", featuring labelmates Far East Movement, is the first official single lifted from Frank's upcoming album of the same name, and will most likely serve as his introduction to the US and international markets. It comes out May 2011, was written by Frank and is produced jointly by Frank and Martin Kierszenbaum. The accompanying music video was shot the weekend of March 22–24, 2011, so fingers crossed it shall surface sooner rather than later.

Hands down, "AM" is the best song he has ever done. Probably the best song Far East Movement have ever put their name to as well. Frank describes his new music as concise and punchy. He's right. The markedly British alternative electro-synthy-indie-pop sound of his debut was enjoyable, but prone to alienate a more international audience; AM, on the other hand, is Frankmusik for the masses. It's sexy, its sleek, it's a perfect fit for both club and radio.
