FIRST LOOK // KELLY ROWLAND - "MOTIVATION" PREMIERES

Yesterday Kelly Rowland (re-)kicked off the promo campaign for her third studio album (now due late summer), debuting the music video for the new lead single "Motivation", featuring Lil Wayne, on BET's 106 & Park. The production was overseen by noted director Sarah Chatfield and choreographed Frank Gatson and Luam. The sleek, sexy yet somewhat icy feel of the song is well represented by the video; on the other hand, one can only wonder why Kelly didn't bring serve up those Lose My Breath-esque dance moves we all know she's got up her sleeve. And whilst the orgy scenes are all nice and good, the video would have benefitted from some one-on-one action between Kelly and her man.

EDIT: We've replaced the video with the official HQ from her VEVO.
I have a feeling that live performances of this will most definitely be worth seeing.

As for the song itself, it is making steady increases on US Urban and Rhythmic radio, and will be sent for Pop and Urban (again) radio adds soon. It will be released to iTunes in seven days time - April 12th - hopefully allowing the video and radio play to gain enough traction to pave the way for both healthy sales and a respectable Hot 100 debut.

No word yet on whether or not the song will be released internationally. In the mean time, "Gone" (with Nelly), which crashed in the US, is off to a healthy start in the UK being playlisted on several important radio stations. With "cousin"/BFF/eternal rival BeyoncĂ© Carter-Knowles preparing to come back out with a new album, it really is break or make time for Miss Kelly.
