With former rival J-Lo enjoying a grand comeback to the charts by way of American Idol, and others such as Christina Aguilera and Cheryl Cole hoping to similarly use, respectively, The Voice and US X-Factor as chart catapults, its refreshing when someone decides that hard work - and not reality television - is the best path to chart success.
.
According to The Prophet and Essence, workaholic diva Mariah Carey has turned down Simon Cowell's offer to join him and former collaborators LA Reid (who helped engineer her grand comeback with The Emancipation of Mimi) and Nicki Minaj (the latest name rumoured to be on the panel, who Mariah worked with on "Up Out My Face Remix").
.
There are reports the diva will be focusing instead on her new studio album, due 2011 after the birth of her twin babies. The project will likely be her final on Def Jam, from where LA Reid has recently departed, and pave the way for her glorious return to original home Sony Music in 2012.
