The music video for CherryTree/Interscope singer-songwriter/white girl rapper Colette Carr's official debut single "(We Do It) Primo" has just premiered online.
The summery track features Keane frontman Tom Chaplin on backing vocals (it samples "Somewhere Only We Know") and serves as the first official offering from her debut LP "Skitzo" due out later this year. Other notables involved in the project include Pharell Williams, Nick Cannon ('Mr Mariah Carey' and the guy who "discovered" Colette), Gaga collaborator Space Cowboy, Frankmusik and Cherry Cherry Boom Boom (aka CherryTree boss Martin Kierszenbaum).
The song's sexpot producer Frankmusik can be seen repping Croydon massive swerving on a bike on the left-hand side, in the background of the video. (The drawing of a guy that appears around 1:20 when she sings "Feeling frank" is also of him).
If you haven't heard of Colette - she's far more than just the blonde girl with blue streaks from the 'Like A G6' whose name you didn't know. "Primo" has already become one of my 2011 playlist staples and just screams ultimate summer jam. Thankfully, the video more than lived up to my expectations and suits the song perfectly. It's cute and summery, warm and fuzzy - just like the song, just like Colette.
