Rapper-turned-singer Example premieres new single "Midnight Run", third single from new LP "Playing In The Shadows", on BBC Radio 1.
Example recently quashed his beef with Olly Murs after meeting the X-Factor alum and being well-treated by him; he also reaffirmed his appreciation for both Alexandra Burke's talent and good looks (Burke being another high profile X-Factor alum Example felt the need to call out when he had new music coming out) whilst maintaining his appreciation for people who, like himself and friends of his such as Ed Sheeran and Wretch 32, who have struggled and fought their way up. Perhaps Example was unaware of the lengths Alexandra went to in order to get signed (notably, she came in second place to Joss Stone in a singing competition at the age of 12 - Joss was signed and developed shortly thereafter, Alex was not) prior to resorting to X-Factor as a last resort of grabbing the attention of an industry which had already slammed the door shut on her numerous times. Perhaps - just perhaps - as a white man making generic "of the moment" music Example is simply unable to comprehend the very different reality of a young black girl refusing to be boxed into the "urban/R&B" slot demanded of her and who finds herself boycotted by BBC Radio 1 for daring to sing straight-up Pop - which is, naturally, the sole prerogative of white females and incomprehensible for a woman of color.
Rasclatts, the lot of them.
